There's money in hosting. I'll advice that you start with a small reseller host package to see how it turns out. Also note that you are not likely to get customers in two months of starting, just be patient.

Initially you can start hosting with reseller package and try to satisfy customers by giving best support because many of options are available in the market for customers.

step by step

I recommend:
1) Get a VPS w/cPanel
2) WHMCS as a billing package (makes it easy to manage all of those recurring billings)
3) Get a merchant account if you don't already have one
4) Either use WHMCS's ticketing system or perhaps Kayako's eSupport to manage all of those support requests
5) Either learn to be an excellent systems administrator, or hire one to help you out when things break
6) I'd probably sell domain names as well, no sense in letting a registrar have the sale since you're going to have to do most of the support work
7) I think people really like Livechat support but its a PITA
8) Don't overload your servers when you get big enough to have them

You can start with reseller hosting by giving good support to your clients.
Yes, you can earn more, but have to keep patience.

I also recommend getting a VPS plan. This will give you more server resources than reseller hosting. A managed VPS with cPanel will cost around $30-$50 per month. Here's a few good value VPS hosting plans.

It is a good idea to become reseller, but I do not suggest you to enter in web hosting business. It is a hard work and it i very different from web design where you can choose your customers.

I think designing websites can go hand-in-hand with hosting. Especially if you target companies that currently don't have sites. You can be a one stop shop for them. And get the recurring income from hosting.

You can start off small with a VPS or low end dedicated server, the good thing about hosting is that you will start to generate guaranteed monthly income from your hosting packages. Find some ware that offers good support if your just starting out. And as others have said a control panel such as Panel will make things a little easier for you.

Sticking to the point is the key. Don't create and maintain a me-too business but get your point out and stand unique.
