Getting customers?

Hi,

I have been in the free hosting industry for over 6 months now. To expand and try to get a more stable income, I decided to get another server and start paid hosting.

Well,
after getting the support techs, billing software, domain, template, plan layout/features/prices I am ready to start accepting clients.

What is the most effective way (except local flyers) to get customers?

This is the fourth or fifth forum I signed up in, so I dedicate my time in forums too

Advertising, adwords, directories, etc. The more you can put into advertising the more your business will expand.

According to your budget you can advertise through banners
on professional Forums, online magazines etc.
About Banner's exchange for example we do it with
webmasters, designers ...

Also you can register on various host directories:

http://webhostdir.com
http://www.webhosting-reviews.com
http://www.ispcheck.com
http://hostratings.com
http://www.hostbyte.com
http://www.hostquote.com

and so on ...

I would suggest just submitting to as many hosting directories as possible and then maybe try to target locally to get going.
Word of mouth is the best advertisement yet.

Directories and ppc will get you immediate traffic.
I like http://www.enhance.com
They are not as much per click but the ROI is really good.

This is probably the best suggestion that you will find. Word of mouth and targeting locally initially is usually the way to go.

If you are already hosting free clients, approach the ones who may have needs that fall into your paid hosting categories. Also, ask your current customers for referrals.

Hope this helps,
Wayne

getting customers

what else do you do besides hosting? networking? programming? design?
the more value you can offer, the better able you will be to build a client base that is loyal to you.
the advice to start local is on target. New businesses open every day, and lots of existing businesses still don't have web sites. I assume you've signed up for a reseller program with a hosting provider ?? Make sure you are paying only for what you need, keeping initial costs in line..and find a provider that options that allow for gradual growth. Start in your own community; sell the Internet with the information you already know.

Hi,

Both of your URL's at 11:08 (GMT-0800) are not reachable. I would recommend strengthening your uptime if you are trying to reach paying customers. There are many servers that offer reseller service with good uptimes and excellent customer service, my favorite is hostgator (At least until I can build to dedicated myself).
