On Your Mark... Get Set... Go Daddy! Go Danica!
New Ad Fuels Indy 500 ? Will Subtle Sex Appeal Play?
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! GoDaddy.com® is fueling Sunday's Indianapolis 500® race with a new custom Indy® ad starring Go Daddy® Girl Danica Patrick . The company known for its racy commercials not only sponsors auto racing's hottest female driver, it is also this year's broadcast sponsor for the legendary race and is drafting from both to reach a new audience. The new 30-second commercial stars Patrick. It plays off shared qualities between the Indy star and the mammoth Web company. Naturally ? speed, power, ease and edge are key ingredients. Surprisingly, the new straightforward ad was quickly produced after Patrick's team rejected a story line featuring Patrick physically ?back-to-back? with original Go Daddy Girl and Playboy® cover girl Candice Michelle. Go Daddy is happy to relay its message about teamwork and getting online fast and easy without playing the "sex card." Still, it's tough to argue Patrick's sex appeal. Just last week, Maxim® men's magazine ranked her 69 on its Hot 100 list. She's also on Victoria's Secret® sexy list for 2007 and has been credited with rekindling excitement for Indy racing.* No matter what happens Sunday, Patrick is part of history. This year, an unprecedented three women have qualified to compete. Two years ago, Patrick made history as the first woman ever to lead the Indy pack when she held off the other drivers for 19 laps. Sunday, she's set to start in the eighth slot. ?This is my first Indy 500 as an official Go Daddy Girl, and this is the Super Bowl of auto racing," said Patrick, who posted the fastest time on the track in Wednesday's Indy practice session. "I intend to drive with passion and power." ?Danica's passion is part of what makes her a great fit for Go Daddy,? said Bob Parsons, GoDaddy.com CEO and founder. "She's hot. She's edgy. She's fast. She's quintessential GoDaddy-esque ," Parsons said, as only he can. "Go Daddy Girl Candice Michelle and I are looking forward to cheering on Danica trackside." Candice stars in many of Parsons' ads, including the controversial 2005 Super Bowl® ad, said to be one of the most successful in the big game's broadcast history. Meantime, Danica's more subtle version of a Go Daddy commercial is scheduled to run during the ?Indianapolis 500 broadcast presented by GoDaddy.com," which airs live Sunday, May 27 at 1 p.m. EDT on ABC TV®. Go Daddy?s Indy 500 broadcast sponsorship includes aerial shots and in-car views from Danica's car during the big race. Seen as a savvy marketing company, Go Daddy is all business when it comes to the Web . It has a portfolio nearly three times the size of its closest competitor with more than 20 million domain names under management and recently announced a record 1 million paid registrations in a single month. Go Daddy is also a top choice for dozens of related Internet products, including Web hosting, email and SSL certs that provide Web site security. Some say the greatest Go Daddy benefit is its legendary customer service, which is like having your very own pit crew to help you navigate your online movement. About The Go Daddy Group, Inc.
