Wizzard Software Further Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of 2nd Podcast Company
Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) announced today the acquisition of a second podcasting company, Blast Podcast, a well known advertising technology and hosting service provider in the podcasting world.
This acquisition is Wizzard?s next step into the booming podcasting market and is the second acquisition of a podcast hosting company in the past 90 days, the first being the Switchpod.com acquisition. Wizzard plans to incorporate its years of expertise in the field of speech technology into the business plan Blast Podcast has developed to create the most advantageous environment for publishers and advertisers. Blast Podcast brings together a variety of video and audio podcasts to create the BlastNetwork, an impressive selection of over 500 audio and video BlastChannels. Blast Podcast provides their clients with branding and advertising opportunities, in addition to real time statistics, and simple feed and file management, all without bandwidth fees and hosting costs. Blast Podcast and their publishers can earn revenue from sponsorships of their podcasts. ?We are building a podcasting environment in which our podcast creators can thrive,? says Chris Spencer, Wizzard Software CEO. ?We believe that Blast Podcast?s approach to the marriage of podcast creators with advertisers is unique and will allow podcasters to monetize their content without offending their listeners, a critical component to the future of podcasting.? To augment the BlastNetwork, Wizzard will incorporate its highly accurate, server-based speech recognition technologies into the BlastNetwork, which will create a transcript of each audio and video podcast. This feature will allow advertisers and listeners to type in precise key words and find relevant podcasts based on the full content of every single podcast episode, simplifying the search process and providing a more targeted audience for the sponsor. ?The acquisition of Blast Podcast is another important piece to the puzzle for Wizzard?s entrance into the podcasting market,? said Gordon Berry, Director of Business Development for Wizzard Software. ?We see great value in the proprietary advertising technology that Blast Podcast has developed and our plan is to build upon their concept by incorporating Wizzard?s world class speech technologies, which we believe will create even greater successes for both the podcasters and the advertisers.? Known as a pioneer in podcast advertising programs, Blast Podcast has developed an innovative and aggressive revenue-sharing program to help their podcasters earn profits through ads placed in their podcasts as well as allow advertisers to target relevant market segments to increase their campaign effectiveness. The BP Ad Engine, Blast Podcast?s exclusive technology, matches publisher content against data provided by advertisers for their specific market segments, ensuring maximum payout for publishers and optimally targeted audiences for the advertisers. Another key component of Blast Podcast?s advertising model is the BlastPlayer, which strongly positions Blast Podcast in the internet television, audio/video online and mobile market, specific to ad-supported content. Designed for the easy management of a channel's episodes and for the audience's viewing pleasure, audio and video content and ads can be mixed within the same player. The BlastPlayer can be easily integrated into nearly any website and weblog publishing (blogging) platform, benefiting the podcasting publisher by making it easier to earn revenue from their website while allowing advertisers to gain maximum exposure to their specified markets. BlastClicks is yet another feature of the ad solution offered by Blast Podcast. BlastClicks is an audio coupon and contest enhancement that expands audio podcast advertising to include CPC (cost per clicks) opportunities in addition to the CPM (cost per thousand impressions) model. Blast Podcast also provides PSA (Public Service Announcements) for the Non-Profit organization, Charity Navigator, and their approved charities to all Podcasters, whether on the BlastNetwork or other networks. Podcast downloading is quickly becoming as common-place as online dating and blogging, according to Nielsen//NetRatings, a leading Internet media and market research firm. The firm reported in July of this year that 6.6 percent of the U.S. adult online population, or 9.2 million Web users, have recently downloaded an audio podcast. Additionally, 4.0 percent, or 5.6 million Web users, have recently downloaded a video podcast. The future of podcast advertising is very positive with extensive growth expected. According to ratings from Arbitron, 11 percent of Americans have heard podcasts, with 53% of that audience under 35. Last year, about $265 million was spent on advertising in online video, with that number expected to jump to $2.3 billion in 2010, making online video the largest arena for online advertising, according to eMarketer. Nielsen//NetRatings also reported that within 30 days in June and July 2006, over 5.5 million web users downloaded a video podcast. Many experts report that the quantity of podcast downloads is expected to increase as more people purchase portable media players. Jupiter Research recently predicted that US digital music player sales would grow to 56 million by 2010, up from 16.2 million in 2004. The Diffusion Group reports that by 2010, three-quarters of all people who own portable media players will listen to podcasts.
