Search engines are the major way for surfers of all ages to locate information on the Web. But the results are not always effective because the "spider" technology used by search engines to find and index pages usually can't find pages from dynamic databases, especially when they encounter a "search page" that requires input from the user. Now a revolutionary software package, released for sale today by Phoenix-based LinkDriver.com, can add thousands of search engine links directly to key product pages in dynamic Web sites.
LinkDriver's Version 1.0 provides more depth to search engines, makes search results a more effective experience and less time-consuming for the user and provides broader marketing opportunities for products and services.
"This is a win-win situation for everyone," said LinkDriver CEO Bruce Covill. "We began developing LinkDriver nearly two years ago as a result of a client complaining each product in its store could not be found in the search engines. We discovered a big hole in the way search engines work that results in individual product pages in the Web's largest online stores usually not being listed in the search engines. LinkDriver bridges the gap between search engine spiders and each site's key products and becomes a unique tool for marketing people and other non-programmers to use."
Web developers and marketers, who purchase LinkDriver, also will discover an array of other important benefits to use as part of the LinkDriver package. These include the creation of a fully automated dynamic site map, methods to shorten Web domain addresses (URLs) and the capability to rewrite page titles and descriptions without any additional programming.
ERA Real Estate installed an advance copy of LinkDriver's Version 1.0 on its www.era.com Web site in January 2003. In the last three months, the company has seen its search engine links grow from a few dozen to more than one hundred thousand and its Web traffic increase by more than 300 percent, proving the software's capabilities.
Webmasters can download a 30-day free trial of LinkDriver's Version 1.0 and full documentation from LinkDriver's Web site at www.linkdriver.com . However, if the user does not later purchase the activator key, the search engine links will cease to work.
Scott More, LinkDriver's chief technical officer, described LinkDriver as a search engine optimization system that "changes the language the Web servers talk. A company could develop its own program to help spiders index its individual site, but optimizing the code for the fast-changing search engine world costs time and more investment than the $5,000 per server list price of LinkDriver."
Moore also noted the results of using LinkDriver Version 1.0 are not instantaneous. "It takes several weeks to see 100 percent Web site penetration as the spiders continue to work until they have harvested and indexed all the pages of a site."
LinkDriver's download module consists of two pieces of code. A purchaser's information technology department or Web developer or hosting company controls the LinkDriver Web Daemon Module, a small, efficient program that sits on the Web server. The LinkDriver Administrator Module was designed for use by marketing or other non-technical people and can be run or rerun anywhere on any Windows computer in the company or at its development or hosting companies. This module enables the user to update its listings because it finds new products when they are added to the database. It also includes options for paid inclusions and placements in search engines.
LinkDriver has been granted "patent pending" status while it seeks patent protection for its unique software.
