Equitec Proprietary Markets LLC, a global proprietary trading group with market making and specialist operations on eight domestic exchanges and additional international exchanges, today announced that it has placed into production a ticker plant system from InfoDyne Corporation.

Equitec's new ticker plant is driven by direct exchange feeds provisioned by SAVVIS Communications (NASDAQ:SVVS), the leading managed IP and managed hosting services provider to the global financial community. SAVVIS delivers direct market data and transaction exchange feeds as part of its award-winning Financial Xchange(SM) network, which guarantees the highest level of performance, reliability, security and quality of service.

Equitec said it chose to deploy an InfoDyne ticker plant solution, rather than continuing to rely on traditional market data vendor feeds, after determining that it would gain competitive advantage by getting the data faster while also saving money by eliminating costly market data vendor fees.

The InfoDyne ticker plant now driving Equitec's trading and back office applications replaces real-time quote feeds from various market data feed vendors. Equitec is now expanding the ticker plant to serve its affiliates and correspondents nationwide. The InfoDyne ticker plant receives direct exchange feeds from Nasdaq, CTA, OPRA, and other providers and delivers the data to a variety of proprietary Equitec applications using InfoDyne's object-based Middleware2 distribution and API technology.

Equitec said its decision to deploy its own ticker plant followed a thorough evaluation of offerings from several leading consolidated vendors. "When your business depends on real-time trading applications you simply can't afford to miss data or suffer the delay imposed by the vendors in delivering information," said Jeff Wagner, Chief Information Officer at Equitec.

"Even the fastest vendor feed averages half-second latency, and at market open we've seen delays measured in seconds. The InfoDyne ticker plant eliminates that latency by letting us access the same exchange feeds vendors use to feed their systems. SAVVIS has also been very efficient and has lived up to all our expectations from day one. We have been very pleased with their service and support," Wagner added.

"When we started offering ticker plants ten years ago, the demand was small and in-house plants fed a handful of specialty applications," said Guy Tagliavia, President of InfoDyne. "Today the idea of having your own ticker plant has gone mainstream because traders are looking for every possible advantage, and getting data faster, at reduced cost, and more reliably appeals to firms of every size."

"Many of the exchange feeds at Equitec are carried by SAVVIS Communications, our alliance partner for global product sales and service. We find that specialty firms, like Equitec, are leveraging high performance global IP networks like SAVVIS' and infrastructure products like ours in ways that the industry giants have also learned to appreciate," Tagliavia added.
