SAVVIS Communications (NASDAQ:SVVS), a global managed IP and managed hosting services provider, today announced that leading medical device contract manufacturer TriVirix International, Inc. has selected it to provide managed IP VPN service for its offices in the U.S. and United Kingdom and will use SAVVIS' high-speed broadband Internet service. TriVirix is headquartered in North Carolina and operates three manufacturing facilities: one in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and two in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Key TriVirix applications facilitated by SAVVIS' managed IP VPN services include a globally deployed SAP ERP system and Enterprise Portal Solution, secure data transfers, file sharing, corporate intranet, e-mail and videoconferencing.
"With an employee and customer base spread across the world, we needed a door-to-door managed services solution that was competitive on price, but sacrificed nothing in terms of security, functionality or scalability," said TriVirix Vice President, Information Technology Michael Labriola. "A key market differentiator for us is our AllianceNet customer information portal. AllianceNet, powered by SAP's Enterprise Portal Solution, gives us the unique ability to share schedule and manufacturing information with our customers and suppliers. We're a rapidly growing company and we wanted a network that will grow with us. We found it in SAVVIS."
Competition to win TriVirix's business was intense, and the company considered several larger network suppliers, both in the U.S. and U.K. "There were other suppliers offering some version of 'managed IP VPNs,' but they were not competitive on price, and we weren't convinced by the service level agreements they offered," Labriola said. "Meanwhile, other suppliers were pushing frame relay, when that was clearly not appropriate for our needs."
"SAVVIS was the right choice for TriVirix. We're now looking at adding new locations to our network and potentially expanding into voice over IP applications," he said.
