Intensive Hosting today announced the acquisition of a new data center to support the company's 100 percent uptime guarantee. Intensive Hosting is a division of Rackspace Managed Hosting, the second largest managed hosting provider. Launched as an alternative to Digex- Worldcom, Intensive Hosting manages complex Web sites exclusively on the Microsoft hosting platform.

Located in San Antonio, the new facility boasts 10,000 square feet of technically superior, super-redundant data center space. The facility also has an uninterruptible power supply with battery backup power system and 1.5MW diesel generator.

The network features redundant carrier-class 12008 and 12016 routers and Catalyst 6500 switches inside the network. The data center runs on a fully switched network, rather than a hub system with five tier one bandwidth providers, including UUNET, AT&T, Sprint, Qwest and Time Warner Telecom.
