Digex, Incorporated , the leading managed hosting provider for business on the Internet, today announced it has achieved SysTrust Certification after completing a rigorous assessment of its production environment for supporting customer Web operations.

Developed and administered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SysTrust examination is designed to encompass four key principles (integrity, security, availability, and maintainability) and criteria for system reliability. Of these principles, security, availability and maintainability are applicable to the services Digex provides. Ernst & Young LLP conducted Digex's SysTrust examination.

From June 2001 through January 2002, Ernst & Young's Technology and Security Risk assessment team examined Digex's assertions regarding the effectiveness of its controls over the security, availability and maintainability of its customer production environment against extensive SysTrust criteria. Ernst & Young's examination determined that Digex's assertions are fairly stated in all material respects, providing reasonable assurance that during the period June 1, 2001 to December 31, 2001 the Digex customer production environment is:

* protected against unauthorized physical and logical access;
* available for operation and use at times set forth in service-level
statements or agreements; and
* able to deliver required updates while continuing to provide system
availability and security.

Performing successfully in the applicable scope of the examination, Digex earned the SysTrust certification. This third-party validation differentiates Digex as a service provider that has assessed potential risks and implemented requisite controls and processes in its systems for secure, reliable and continuous service delivery.

SysTrust certification is the latest in a long line of certifications achieved by Digex, which confirms the company's continuing commitment to meeting the very highest industry standards. "Digex is committed to implementing and maintaining peak levels of availability, integrity, security and manageability in every managed solution we put into operation," said Pamela Fusco, chief security officer, director of security operations at Digex
