Business-critical Web applications fail constantly, turning away customers and needlessly resulting in lost revenues and increased costs. In fact, transaction-based Web sites can lose as much as $275,000 per hour if only 20 percent of transactions are not completed, according to Forrester Research Inc. ("Nonstop E-Commerce," January 1999).
To address this urgent IT pain point, TeaLeaf Technology(R) today unveiled TeaLeaf IntegriTea(TM), the latest generation of the company's award-winning software. TeaLeaf IntegriTea is the first Web application management solution designed to contain the skyrocketing costs and bottom-line impact of Web site failures, site maintenance, and problem resolution. By providing visibility into the functional integrity of Web applications, TeaLeaf customers report increased reliability and accelerated problem resolution. Application integrity provides CIOs and IT departments with the assurance that Web applications are responding as intended.
TeaLeaf also announced new customer relationships with Colgate-Palmolive and Leica Geosystems (see related releases). These announcements demonstrate increasing adoption for TeaLeaf among Global 2000 companies.
"Web-enablement is increasingly becoming the standard for applications deployment," said Tim Grieser, Research Director, Enterprise System Management Software at IDC. "In order for this to succeed, the 'Web platform' must be managed to provide acceptable service delivery in terms of operational availability, performance and functional correctness -- and of course, security. By focusing on the Web application as seen by a Web user, and by combining application-specific API data with Web page history, TeaLeaf Technology is providing a perspective -- which they call 'functional integrity' -- that extends both the depth and degree to which Web applications availability can be managed."
TeaLeaf IntegriTea manages the integrity of Web applications by bridging the gap between traditional application performance and system management tools. Using patented technology, IntegriTea captures the composition of every Web page sent to every user, alerts IT to possible problems, quickly resolves errors, and communicates problem resolution across the enterprise with visual documentation of Web application failures. Application performance solutions only address the performance of user transactions and business processes. Systems management products monitor and manage individual components of the Web infrastructure. TeaLeaf IntegriTea is the first and only solution that manages the many complex events that lead to a functional integrity failure into a single piece of information that accelerates problem isolation and resolution.
"Ironically, application integrity problems are the most visible to the customer, yet the least visible to IT operations," said Frank Vaculin, CEO of Tealeaf Technology. "With IntegriTea, TeaLeaf is arming CIOs and IT operations with a view into the functional fitness of Web applications. For the first time, companies can gain a true understanding of the integrity of their business processes, while minimizing the cost of managing Web applications and uncovering serious Web problems before they damage the bottom line."
Immediate Awareness, Rapid Resolution
TeaLeaf IntegriTea provides the ability to monitor business processes in real time, delivering immediate awareness into previously found or new technical errors, application performance, or other issues that cause users to abandon business-critical applications. With IntegriTea, IT operations have a complete record of every end-user Web session, what they requested, and what they received. The new solution records the exact content generated by Web applications, third-party servers and dynamically generated application errors.
TeaLeaf IntegriTea also provides detailed diagnostics and visual documentation. The new solution enables communication and workflow across organizations that have independent charters but share the common responsibility of supporting the Web channel. Users also can monitor actual end-user sessions and immediately detect if they are failing to complete transactions. In addition, IntegriTea users can easily communicate Web application problems to each department in a language they understand.
TeaLeaf's next-generation solution comprises the core IntegriTea solution, which can be enhanced with optional Portal and Reports modules. Benefits of the core IntegriTea solution include:
Increasing reliability;
Capturing the actual end-user session;
Alerting on user failures, functional errors, and incorrect data;
Accelerating problem resolution;
Resolving problems through isolation and diagnosis; and
Communicating problems by supplying problem documentation.
The Portal add-on module is a customizable, Web-based console that provides personalized views of actual, end-user sessions. With the Portal module, users can drill down into actual, page-by-page, click-by-click replays of specific user site visits. IT managers also can create charts in real time using pre-defined events and thresholds to quickly pinpoint problem areas.
The Reports add-on module provides aggregate views and trend data, and allows IT professionals to drill down to view session details. The module also delivers complete custom reporting capabilities, a powerful open data schema, and SLA reporting on functional integrity.
Pricing and Availability
TeaLeaf IntegriTea is available immediately, and is priced from $2,975 per month for the base configuration, and scales based on the number of CPUs and end-users. The Portal and Reports modules will be available in the second quarter of 2002. Pricing for the add-on modules, and for upgrades from previous versions of TeaLeaf software, is available by contacting TeaLeaf.
