Telewest Broadband has signed an agreement with Zeus Technology to migrate its Telewest blueyonder broadband internet customer web presence hosting service to upgraded servers running Zeus software, turning blueyonder's web presence into an industry leading hosting platform. According to Telewest Broadband, the move away from the existing MCIS (Microsoft Commercial Internet System) IIS platform is being driven by the need for a fully featured best of breed web hosting platform capable of meeting the demanding requirements of a broadband service.

The move to Zeus means that blueyonder customers will benefit from a highly reliable and secure hosting service, as Zeus software can guarantee the levels of resilience, security and performance demanded by a broadband service. The Zeus platform is also highly scalable, allowing surges in site traffic to be handled at the same performance levels and on existing hardware, significantly reducing upgrade time and expenses previously faced by Telewest Broadband. New functionality added by using Zeus includes PHP scripts, ChiliSoft ASP, secure CGI scripts and extensive online reporting statistics for end users.

"Having a long track record of reliable, fault free service running Zeus software on our business web hosting service, it was a logical next step to bring the same benefits to our consumer customers. We are confident that the new Zeus platform will provide us with the security, resilience, scalability, and full feature set required to satisfy even the most demanding of our customers' creative needs on our broadband service," said Alex Brown, webmaster, Telewest Broadband.

Zeus software offers the fastest and most stable platform for delivering content across the Internet and now plays a critical role in the state-of-the- art infrastructure underlying the blueyonder residential services. Zeus Global Services Consultants have provided Telewest Broadband with auditing services to ensure that web hosting is supported by an extremely resilient infrastructure, which can be easily and cost-effectively scaled as the customer base expands.

The new Zeus based platform is also being made available to blueyonder's dial-up user base. The entire web hosting service is scheduled to be running on the Zeus platform by Spring 2002.

"We are delighted to be further extending our relationship with Telewest Broadband, providing them with Zeus software which delivers the speed, reliability, security and scalability needed to succeed in the hosting market, and backing this with expertise and support from our Global Services team," said John Paterson, CEO, Zeus Technology.
