Trellix(R) Corp., the leading provider of web site publishing technology and hosting services, today announced the latest version of the Trellix Hosting Platform - an enhanced set of managed hosting services and infrastructure innovations that gives partners increased flexibility and significant cost reduction. Trellix also announced today that Dave Owczarek has joined the company as Vice President of Operations to lead Trellix's rapidly growing managed hosting services business.
Significant technology innovations in customization, integration, bandwidth and abuse management enable Trellix to be the leading low-cost provider of managed web site hosting services. The platform enhancements debut as data from research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) shows that web sites represent the fastest growing segment of the small business provider market (see separate Trellix press release). In less than two years, IDC predicts there will be 15 million small business web sites, and that web site services alone will constitute a $9 billion market.
Over the past year Trellix's web site hosting business has experienced rapid growth, despite the decline elsewhere in the Internet services market, adding industry leaders such as About, CNET, McGraw-Hill, Namezero (see separate release) and ZDNet. Millions of web sites have been built through Trellix's dozens of private-label partners, including hundreds of thousands of small business and entrepreneurial sites.
"Working hand in hand with industry leading partners has helped us perfect low-cost managed application hosting," said Don Bulens, CEO of Trellix. "Through advancements in technology and our superior architectural design, our partners get a high quality offering with significant economy of scale - services that they would otherwise not be able to provide or afford."
Trellix Innovations Enhance Partner Control
The new Hosting Platform provides numerous innovations to the Trellix shared hosting infrastructure that enable partner-definable levels of service, such as bandwidth limiting, to classes of users or even individual subscribers. Highlights of the new platform include:
-- Custom Hosting Services -- Small business providers and ISPs can offer their subscribers tiered hosting packages with varying disk space, bandwidth allocation and file type restrictions using the Account APIs.
-- Extensive Bandwidth Management -- The new platform implements custom bandwidth management tools that control throughput to individual web sites, significantly reducing connectivity costs.
-- Abuse Management -- Trellix provides monitoring of highly active sites to identify remote loading, software piracy and other service violations.
-- Partner Control Center -- Partners using the new hosting platform get real-time access to detailed statistics on builder and visitor activity, service level agreements and bandwidth and disk space utilization.
-- Proven Scalability and Reliability -- The Trellix Hosting Platform, located at an Exodus Internet Data Center, is extremely stable and scalable, as a result of Trellix's N+1 server pools, innovative high performance storage systems and multi-Gbps exit capacity. For 2001, Trellix has achieved an outstanding 99.9% uptime for its low-cost application hosting services.
Recognizing the need to answer strong customer demand for hosting services, Trellix tapped hosting guru Dave Owczarek to lead its hosting operations. Mr. Owczarek joins Trellix from hosting giant Interliant, where he served as vice president of engineering - directing the activities of three departments focused on hosting platforms, systems management and networking.
"I joined Trellix for its clear leadership and expertise in web site publishing technologies," said Dave Owczarek, vice president of operations at Trellix. "This is an exciting opportunity to work with an extremely knowledgeable team to continue the evolution of the most complete, customizable private-label web site publishing and hosting solution available."
