Data Return Corporation, a leading global provider of managed hosting services, today announced a new suite of Business Continuity Services (BCS) that will allow managed hosting customers to deploy their applications across multiple data centers to increase application availability. These solutions can reduce the risk of application downtime from events such as fiber cuts, malicious attacks, natural disasters or unsuccessful code upgrades. In the event of a failure of a site component, the customer's application automatically fails over to another data center and continues to operate, providing a seamless recovery to end-users. Through the use of proprietary technology, Data Return is able to provide these solutions to customers at a price that is only marginally higher than standard managed hosting solutions. This allows customers to take advantage of these capabilities for a wider range of applications.
"Increasingly we find that enterprise customers are looking for ways to improve the availability of their applications," said Melanie Posey of IDC. "Products such as Data Return's BCS offerings will help them achieve this goal."
Data Return is the first managed hosting services company to develop BCS solutions for the Microsoft .NET Enterprise Server platform that allow for transparent browser fail over of customer transactions and database content. These BCS solutions extend the company's existing high availability platform to enable intelligent traffic management, global presence and enhanced service levels.
"Engineering for application survivability has become a must have for our enterprise customers for two specific reasons," said Todd Steitle, senior vice president of product line management for Data Return. "First, the substantial rise in customer-facing applications means that internal business systems have now been extended outside of the enterprise. Additionally, the Microsoft .NET architecture creates application interdependencies that require all parts of the system to be available for standard operation."
Data Return's implementation of BCS solutions includes access to subject matter experts in the areas of content and database replication methodologies for the Microsoft .NET Enterprise Server platform. This, combined with a customized engagement in Data Return's Scalability Center helps customers' applications survive planned or unplanned downtime.
"Data Return will continue to lead the market in delivering a higher level of managed hosting services to our enterprise customers," said Bob Prosen, Data Return COO. "BCS solutions will enable us to provide a higher level of service to our customers each and every day, enabling the applications we manage on their behalf to operate with increased levels of availability."
