Help! A few hours ago my life changed. The hosting company I have been using for three years disappeared. No warning, no notice no information. All i know is I can no longer get inbound or outbound email service and when I go to my websites all I get is a page saying my account has been suspended. I know its not my account that is suspended since my account is in good standing and when I go to the hosting companies own webpage I see the same suspended notice. Bottom line is i'm without email and websites and customers will think MY company was suspended! I can't reach the hosting company by email or phone. how do I find out what happened to the company (and my files!). Is there a live hosting forum board somewhere where I can ask around live for info? Is there a spot where suspended hosting companies are listed through whatever services handle these things? Any help would be appreciated - I'm sure you can appreciate the feeling of helplessness!
Thanks!
Martie
Sorry for your grief at this moment but what I would recommend doing is looking up the whois on the domain name for your host, unless you have available contact info on them (phone, off network email, etc)
It "sounds" to me with a suspend page being up on both your site and your hosts site that its possible that terms of service may have been violated OR someone owed an outstanding bill and didnt pay it?

Hi successm,
If you could supply us with the name of your host we might be able to find some info on them for you.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This just happened to me. But, it was really odd...

I got a message from WizWebHost.Com stating that my site had been suspended, due to a problem with, of all things, my upstream provider, and that I should call my web hosting company. Which, is, WizWebHost.Com

When I went to my site, I got a splash page stating that the domain had been suspended. Then, I went to their site, and, of all things, they had the same splash page.

I looked at this post, but trying to do a Whois on a domain that is suspended does not seem to work.

Now, I don't even get the splash pages, I just get the general MS Domain not found message.

WizWebHost hosts a lot of pages, I can't believe that it just went "poof".

Seems that they may have been a reseller and THEIR account was suspended thus suspending yours as well!

Well, it is back up. Howevever, after having what they claim as "over 200,000 sites" suspended for over an hour, including their own, I recieved the following email.

Hello

Please ignore the email that you have received about the suspension of your account. During the testing process of our billing renewal system, the email was sent out to you accidentially.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Kind Regards,

Still seems that they may have been a reseller and THEIR account was suspended thus suspending yours as well and they paid their bill and all sites are back up!
It is the end of the month!

I doub't that even if they are reseller their main provider will be sending e-mails to the reseller customers - thats very unprofessional and non of the resellers business.

I think the claim for 200,000 sites being down at the same time just makes no sense (unless this is happening because of the domain registrar - which is very possible)

We have recently experienced problem with godaddy suspending or disabling all of our .US domains by so far unexplained mystery.

I know of a company that DOES send emails to its resellers customers when they turn them off.

I had a website with the reseller and received an email from the main company saying that my account has been dissabled to please contact my hosting company.

This was their way of forcing their reseller to pay his bill, and it worked. But he soon transferred to another company as a reseller becuase of it and tried to move all of his customers. And I ended up going else where. I did let him know that his origianal company that he was reselling for tried to contact me and ask me to go directly to them, which was very unprofessional and that is why I did not go with them.

I don't mention names but they are based out of Tampa, FL!

Sounds to me like your host might have been a reseller with a delinquent bill. Hope you have better luck with the next one.
