hi guys I'm planning to set up a forum for people to discuss about home/car audios and maybe other things as well, I'm just wondering what is the best online web host for this kinda of service? and since it's just a forum does that mean the space is not important but the bandwidth? and some web hosts also offer like a pakage with domain, does that mean I can have the "myfourmname.com" web address that I want when I apply for the web host?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou very much.
Martie
Many hosts will be able to accomodate your needs.
You could either choose a free forum or a commercial version such as vbulletin (this forum is vbulletin)
Similar ones though that are free are:
www.phpbb.com
www.invisionboard.com
Your host would need to support PHP, MySQL (and most hosts will support this as its pretty standard now)
Either of these boards can be installed on your account in less than 10 minutes.
As far as a domain name, sure you can register any name you wish (as long as its available) If your site will not have any other content then something like myforumname.com
would work well. I think you would be safe in just ordering a small account for starters at around 50MB and 5GB transfer.
We have people using smaller 30mb as well and have forums.
Just send some pre-sales emails to your potential host with questions as you may need some assistance along the way.
Hope this helps

Thx Martie, I appreciated that, I got couple more questions that I want to ask. so by saying that having the forum installed do you mean uploading the content of my forum to the host? and since u said 50mb to 5gb tranfer should be enough so I'm guess space is not really important as long as the bandwidth is from 50mb to 5gb?

Thankyou
