Hello I was wondering if someone could please tell me how I can host my own website? I own anastaciocorporatio.com, but I would like to have my computer as the host. Reason to this is because I want to use PHP and angelfire.com does not support PHP

If you're time is worth money, and you're not setting up your own server for the experience; I would just invest in a small package with an established hosting company.

Most companies starter packages, are very cheap, and have PHP support.

If you're still set on making your computer the host, I can advise you.

Running a site is a lot more than PHP. Most people don't realize (and don't want to know) how much technical resources it takes to effectively have just 1 machine as a hosting machine. From a customer's POV it's simple but on the back end there are issue of connection, name server, OS, server systems (Apche etc), and least not forget security issues.

People often say "My site is small. I don't need to pay a host for it." You'll end up spending more time and head ache in a month then you would have spent in a year with a host. Trust me on that.

That's why I was curious to if it was for "learning purposes"

I did "recommend" though, to just get a plan from an established host, to, well, keep their hair

The reason to why I want to host my own website is because I want to learn how to do it. I don't mind taking the tiem to learn about how servers work or PHP. Is there a website you know that I can go to in order to learn how to host my website and to learn a little bit more about PHP as well?

If you haven't heard about PHP Triad..
It lets you install apache + PHP + MySQL together and easily manage it. Morever it's simple and easy to install and configure. The PHP Triad site is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/phptriad

SO thanks to everyone for helping. i did downlaod triad, but I don't really understand how to use it, but I am trying....I hope i'll get better....I guess the more I work and practice the easier it will get.

Before you set up a computer on your home internet connection as a server, be sure to check with your ISP's Terms and Conditions of Service. You wouldn't want to get caught violating it and having your account closed.

you can use your personal PC for a host and setup dynamic dns service which will always point your domain name to your PC's IP

COuld you tell me if i'd be violating my terms? What I have is COmcast. mochahost how do I do that. ANgelfire allows me to do the dynamic dns, but how do I exactly do it to point to my IP?
