Anyone to explain the catch?
What's behind this "automated hosting" term?
Plans sound really good with 20Gb of monthly transfer and all the bells and whistles...
Thanks in advance.

erm,

automated hosting is generally a term used by server salesmen, rather than for end-users. It usually denotes a system set up to automatically register and set up accounts for customers. ie. when you sign up for a hosting account it gets AVS checked, approved, an account is set up, and an e-mail sent out to you without the host having to lift a finger.

In relation to something that a customer need know.. hmmm. not sure. Feel free to post the host if you like, and we can check it out for you.

above two are "automated".

Could please somebody also comment on vortechhosting.com?...

Thanks again

Ok, I had a read of what their 'automated' hosting is.

Time for personal opinion #4563

From what I gather account setup is much as I described before - auto setup and autosend of your username/pass... nothing out of the ordinary.

The interesting part is their support. Instead of having a live support tech answer your e-mail, I guess they have a script that reads your mail, picks out a few keywords and responds with a canned answer. This has been happening for a while, or has had an equal version in outsourced tech support glancing at an e-mail and doing a 'cut and paste' response that *should* cover your problem.

Hosting companies used to do this and keep it all hush hush hoping people didn't catch on. Apparently now it's a 'feature' to be proud of. Were I in your place I'd go for a host that uses real people to anser your real problems.

As for Vortech Hosting.. I know Brad and he seems to show a genuine concern for his customers. Were I looking for hosting Vortech would be up there on my list. I think you'd probably do pretty well by using them.

Hm...
No MySQL and mailing lists on vortechhosting basic plans...
Will keep looking elsewhere.
