Hello Everyone,

I have two rather large questions this evening.

1. I am currently in the process of getting ready to setup my own server to be colocated at a nearby hosting company. However this is my first venture into running a server myself, previously I have been using a shared server w/ another provider.

Our server is going to need to run some select pieces of software, I was hoping that I could get some pointers of other pieces of software I will need to have.

The server will run: Windows NT Server 4.0 SP4
Specialized software: Macromedia Flash
Macromedia Generator Enterprise Edition
Macromedia/Allaire ColdFusion Server
The server comes with Netfinity Manager (it's an IBM server) for remote admin.

Aside from the above mentioned software, what else will I need for the server? Do most colocation companies allow use of an email server? How would I go about setting the server up for this task (so I can get myself@mydomain.com).

Does Windows NT Server come with CGI, ASP ect or do I need to find all of that myself.

If you could give any ideas or pointers that would be great.

Ok question number 2.

Does anyone know anything about web advertising? Our website (as you can tell from the above software) is going to use quite a bit of bandwith, so there will obviously need to be some sort of cash flow. I know quite a few sites use services like DoubleClick.

How do these services work, and how much money can sites pull in from web-ads. Do you have to pay for services like DoubleClick up front?

Any pointers about the forray of web advertising would also be appreciated.

Many Thanks.
JTY
Well I know IIS, provides ASP and CGI under NT. I'm not sure, if Coldfusion supports them also.

As far as I know, all colo providers allow mail servers. IMail is suppose to be a very good mail server, but there are others.
elijah :)
I recommend Imail from Ipswitch.com. We use them on one of our backup NT server and it is easy to setup.

Yes it is possible to support cold fusion on NT/Win2k server.

I second Imail.
M6.net
FYI: why don't you consider win2k server, since it is more reliable and stable than NT4.
