I have been searching the internet for a good webhost that can give the most for the money and provide me with a large sum of space and allow plenty of traffic to the site.

I will be opening a webstore for the first time and be having a lot of graphics and pages on it. I have never had a webstore so all of this is new to me. I have done a website before but it was easy to set up, unlike this will be for me.

Well, anyway- the webhost that I found to give me the most for my money is called HERCULES webhosting.

Have any of you heard of or dealt with this hosting company before and could tell me about it? Good or bad..

Or if you know of a good one that I can look into I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Here is what I am most concerned about:

Space for my store for LOTS of graphics and words and pages
Lots of space for Traffic-don't want to go over on bandwidth(that I do understand a bit about)
Counters
Guestbook
SSL
easy setup
Domain Registering and hosting(preferrably in the cost of the site hosting)
And anything else that is utmost important on a site for the security of me and my customers.

I personally haven't heard anything about this company.

If herculeshosting.com is who you are talking about, they seems a bit young.

The Tracert Points to the netblock owner of Affinity Dedicated. Something is odd as the IP's point to Orlando Florida, meanwhile the Affinity Internet Network is based in Los Angeles. Maybe they got a new network? Maybe not. Maybe its a totally different company but the pings are pretty high. I have a T1 line, and was in the 300's. I pinged from a server with multiple oc lines and it was in the 130's.

That is the Hercules that I am referring too. What is it that you are referring to when you talk about "pings"? There is a lot that I don't know about the internet and that's why I am here.

I have also looked into www.ipowerweb.com as a possibility. They seem to be popping up on websites all over when I do searches for web hosting. There's is the same cost for a year but offer 500mg space/50mg bandwidth of hosting space. He was real nice and explained how much room that is so I would know that it would be sufficient.

Any suggestions as far as what to look for and watch out for in a hosting company?

The ipowerweb host customer service has already answered some questions for me about their service. I wasn't expecting an answer till maybe tomorrow but I got 2 within the hour. One was for the initial question and the other for an additional one after the first. That impressed me right there about them.

Thanks for your time and help. I appreciate it. Sorry for being so dumb about all this, especially when I want to have a store on the web. It's just that I have been searching, reading, comparing and it all just runs together and gets confusing.

ipowerweb is also a bit sketchy.

I am a host myself so I really shouldn't be answering their questions as far as reliability goes but I have been reading up on them and lately a lot of dis-satisfied clients.

Although for a host the size of ipower, there will also be good and bad reports.

Ping as far as a bounceback in ms. Usually for speed issues you want to stay under 100 ms.

try www.lunarpages.com or www.worldhosters.net thay are cheap and reliable as www.ipowerweb.com.

I think I'll be going with ipowerweb. They have answered my questions and I think they have the best deal for how much you get.
All the others have less for more money, or some are the same but I didn't like something about them.

Those that were pushy-forget it. I checked out quite a few from this site and they were way too much for a lot less than I need.
The gentleman that was answering me from ipower was very nice and gave me all the information that I needed and didn't push the website or anything about it on me. That's customer service right there.

Thanks for all your help to both of you. I appreciate it..

I hope everything goes well for you cutesy.

The reason why they were probably a bit pushy is because they are big.

ipower is on the same boat but I am happy they weren't with you.

Let us know how everything goes in a few weeks.

Avoid herculeshoster at all costs. It's run by complete incompetents. They bungled a mail server transfer and I lost access to all of my previous emails; on the same transfer they didn't notify me of the new webmail address and it took several emails to their support to even get the new address!

And now my mail has been unavailable for three days and counting. This is the sixth 24-hour-plus mail outage in the last two months. They don't respond to emails and they don't fix problems. And now my site itself is down! I'm switching today. Don't make the same mistake I did.
