Hi,

If at some point in the future you decide to change hosting companies or purchase a server how do you go about transfering all the of your clients websites.

Is there an easy way of doing this.

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,
Welcome to the WHD forums
I think that would depend on what system you are on. If it happens to be a cpanel server Ive heard talk of an automated way of doing it.
Sorry not much help on this one but possibly you could ask your parent host about it?

Just like what Martie says...it depends on what system you are running on before the change and what system you want to go to after the change.

cPanel does a pretty good job of transferring accounts whole (email, settings, files, etc.) as long as you have either root access to the server or the login and password to the individual accounts. Just a couple of clicks and the account is transferred to a new server. You would just have to change nameservers (as you would for any transfer).

Of course the standard way is that you could just recreate the accounts and then upload the files. Ask your prospective host if they will help. Most will provide some assistance.
I, Brian
Yes, files can be transferred via CPanel - if both plans have them. However, if you're getting your own server you may wish a more secure panel to work with.

Really, though, you should have a copy of absolutely everything that goes onto your site - and if not, download a copy immediately.
