So we got the server, but because we are so new to Web Hosting, we don't know what else we need, control panels, packages for the server, and so on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I got the server.
I'm looking into pesk for the control panel,
and domain names
so all I would need is a merchant account.

How would I go about obtaing the merchant account? And does the above information sound like I am on the right track?

There are literally 1000's of merchant accounts online to sign up to......the cheapest way to go is to get a merchant account from your neighbourhood bank.


How is the server going to be connected to the internet? I hope your not planning on running the server off of your home DSL or Cable......they will cut you off faster than you can say "bandwidth limit?"

No... I am not running the server from home...

I am actually representing one of the two dialup ISPs on island...but there a no web hosts on island, and it is difficult to resell, since we are in the middle of the south pacific.
