php is a very good free board and very easy to install, but your host does need to support PHP,MySQL.
I "quickly" glanced at the faq for freewebs and it doesnt look like they support it:
What about MySQL, MSACCESS, and PHP?
Unfortunately, FreeWebs does not offer these functions.

I would suggest sending them an email and ask them beforehand if you havent already signed up.

actually, it can be used with MS SQL as well. i'm using it on a couple of sites that i didn't feel like writing my own custom app.

I do not have server knowledge. Do i need a server? Dont they cost money.

you don't necessarily need a server, if you have a good web host, they will probably help you set it up. but since you're hosting with freewebs.com, and they're free, they probably won't.

and since it doesn't look like they host PHP, you won't be able to use it on there anyway.

i would suggest spending a little bit of money and going with a good host that will help you set it up.

If you get a hosting account with a company that offers Fantastico, phpbb2 can be installed automatically from within your own control panel for you.
