I sent in a ticket about the sluggishness of the server and the response I got from their tech department was that they allow "bursty activity" such as this and that it "looks worse than it is" and to upgrade to a virtual private server, about $80 a month...my site is a vbulletin with about 10 people online at a time.

The site was the "suspended" (probably until I stopped whining). Then today the site is running rampant again. So I sent in another ticket and got this as a response:

Not a very good way to try and make sales if you ask me...make the environment unbearable so that people are forced to upgrade. Wouldn't most hosts be asking the intensive sites to move to a ded, not the other way around?

How much ussage are you doing.....
I amean what are they saying you are using in bandwith?

I use about 2 gigs of bandwidth per month.
