Hi guys.
stupid Q, I know, but I've been searching for this almost everywhere and cannot find the answer. I want to create a webpage on a Unix server, "featureprice" is the company's name. But I really need to know if I need Linux insatalled on my pc (I have Windows XP, if this helps..) in order to have complete compatibility with the Unix server, do I?
since I want to work with MySQL, mysql, php etc ..
I've read that it's better to work on a Unix/Linux platform, does this mean, Unix(Server), Linux(client)? I'm sorry, but I know nothing about Unix/Linux..
Also, is "featureprice" a good web host company?
Thank you all!!! you guys rock!!!!!

edwardo,

Let me see if I can help you here.

1. You really do not need to get Linux in order to put up a website. The vast majority of people that host sites through a web host use MS Windows.

2. You can do everything you want to do (test MySQL, PHP, etc.) by installing the Windows version of PhpTriad. It will install these components on your windows comuters and works very well.

You can download PhPTriad from here:

If you have any more web hosting related questions feel free to email me.

Bret is right.

Though the following links might be handy:

http://www.mysql.com

Not being a Linux boff myself, I could be wrong. Aren't these the official sites?

Better to go to the horses mouth I think...
