Hi,
Was wondering if anyone could help with recommendations on hosts who have hosted or hosting Cactushop cart software(http://www.cactushop.com). Am currently looking for a reliable host with reasonable pricing and reliable support...espc since I am located in a diff time zone and the other side of the hemisphere...

Any advice appreciated!

well it's an asp based cart, so you'll really be wanting to look for a windows based host (as opposed to Linux). You might want to PM Tommy (one of the moderators here), and see if he has any suggestions. He does a fair bit of work with .asp so should have a better opinion of what's good.

Or you could look for a host that has ChiliASP (http://wwws.sun.com/software/chilisoft/). The last time I looked at this it didn't have every feature that the Windows version of ASP had. Tho I'm sure they incorporated the most used functions into the software. One of the main advantages in my opinion would be, you wouldn't be hosted by a Windows server!!!

Providing my 2 cents!

ChlliSoft is the best regarded of the Linux ASP models though from what I've heard it's still a far cry from native ASP on a Windows server. ApacheASP is another though not taken very seriously by anyone.

For simple ASP issues ChilliSoft will probably do the trick. I'd considered mentioning it myself, but the script in question here is a full cart application. I'd imagine there may be issues using a Linux based ASP solution.

While I agree totally that a Linux webserver is the greatest thing since sliced bread (and I may be biased) if someone's looking as using an ASP script, they should probably look towards Windows hosting to prevent an issues that may crop up.

In my opinon, I think you should research ChiliSoft. I would put my site on a Windows machine if someone paid me. See if you can find out if the cart is compatible with chilisoft or not... If so, I think you will be much happier..

Why would someone pay you to put your site on a Windows machine? LOL (I know, I know, It was a typo, I just couldn't resist!)
