What is the best software to keep track of your web hosting cusomters' information like name, address, domain name(s), etc. that will make it easy to track and recall the information at a later date? I really need a good solution to this. I thank everyone in advance for their help.

well, i do know that there's PHPMANAGER that does this for free? Im not really sure. I've heard from my collegues that it certainly does the trick.

I, on the other hand, use ModernBill, which is a utility that handles account activation and creation as well as a billing software. With the $180 program, you even get a free setup with authorize.net (the big perk with authnet is that YOUR NAME shows up on the clients CC and not some third party merchant. ;-)

Anyhoot, that's my $.02

I built a data base using MS works.. and enter everything into it each time I make a sale. I also have a paper trail as I copy each account I set up. Of course I have Cpanel's WHM so this makes copying to paper easy. I just add the user's CC or paypal, or any other method of payments to the file (and write it on the paper), plus I utilize a Calander for reminders.
It's kind of a new with the old method but If my system ever crashes I have not lost a thing. I would recommend backing up to CD/discs as well.

You could look at some kind of contact manager, or address book software. Many have search functions you can use which would make things easier once numbers are up.

has a lot of freeware and shareware and something there might suit your needs.

We've been using Outlook with Exchange for the last three years but you could go for a CRM package like Goldmine or ACT. One word of caution, cost! CRM software is expensive requires a license per user. Your best bet is to make do with any tools you might have or take a look at the freeware and shareware like Greg was suggesting.

We use phpmanager with FileMaker Pro - print out a copy of every order and keep a record in file maker pro for safe keeping. I am finding phpmanager very very clumsy to work with. I mainly use it to send out client activation emails. If you need a script to keep track of good billing then don't use phpmanager.

Optigold w/ FileMaker Pro is much, much, much better..

You guys are still in the 80s with your old bookkeeping methods.
