I've got my company web site on two seperate servers which happen to be on two seperate networks completely. I don't want all my eggs in one backet so to speak. I have made alot of generic support pages for my resellers, and things of this nature. My point is I've gotten really good at masking and mirroring sites and files.

As I was working on some generic support pages and with the help of dreamweavers awesome template utility this is very easy to do. I began to think, I could literally sell this pre-bundled set of support files, who is scripts and account activation forms, as an application suite of sorts. Anyone who has dreamweaver can easily change the sites layout and instantly have their own web hsoting company up and running with a little customization. 5 years of my life would be one days work for them.

What are your thoughts of this idea? It would literally be a complete suite of applications and useful files for web hosting companies, maybe even resellers.

I think anything that provides more support for start ups and existing hosting companies is a good thing.

I think we see too many hosts setting up without knowing what they are getting into and consequently hosting consumers are getting burnt. It's easy to set up as a reseller but getting together supporting documentation is a whole different skill set. Technical server expertise doesn't automatically translate into good writing skills. On the same note a good business brain may not always be the best for explaining tech support.

Offcourse marketing these products will be a whole different ball game but with anyone who is familiar with SitePoint's Proposal Kit, this could be sold in a similar way. A full stand alone package that is vital for the smooth running of a crtical part of a web hosting business.

Some private label wholesale hosts offer these kind of documents as part of their plans as part of the full business package you need to get you up and running.

As a reseller Customer Support is my number one goal. I am lucky to have responsive contacts and if anything is above me (I'm still learning as I go) then I always have a response to send back to my client within 4 to 6 hours. I have been searching the Web and studying for quite some time. I have just launched my new reselling company this year and it took off better than I would have ever hoped for. It was the Support and the fact that I can answer Emails 24/7.
We have compiled a list over the last few months and now have a customer support page that deals with issues that are very common. I only have 3 pages now but it has cut questions down by almost 30%.
I am working on 6 more pages now..... and if i read this right I would be interested in looking at some more support issues.
Anyone know where I can sign up for 24/7 telephone support service for my hosting company?

If I'm not mistaken, you have already signed up for outsourced technical support from India. I noticed that the support was only for Linux based systems..I guess you don't provide any hosting services for Windows!

I hope you are happy with the Support Services you signed up for.....please keep us informed.

Amen to that! I've been involved in and/or following the Web hosting business for five years now, and have concluded over and over again that there's a desperate need for solid, complete and all-in-one resources for startups and existing hosts alike. All the information a host needs might already be out there, but the time and effort required to gather it all yourself is astronomical. That's part of the reason I started my company.

Kudos to anyone who tries to offer hosts a better way. Thomas, I think you could potentially have a very good thing here. Good luck with it!
