Hello,

I am considering the plans that Hosting.Us.Com and wanted to know if anyone had a comment on them.

I am currently with HostOnce and - needless to say - am trying to get away from them ASAP. When I wasn't looking, HostOnce became the laughing stock of the hosting village [and I, apparently, am the village idiot].

I found Hosting.us.com and immediately thought that it was too good to be true [it probably is], but it's worth a try. They offer unlimited everything. And, although I realize that 'unlimited' doesn't really unlimited, it seems like a wonderful deal. I'm looking to offer a friend or two some space to be part of my extremely small site. hosting.us.com offers unlimited FTPs and statistics for sub domains. That's a deal.

After the experience that I had with HostOnce, I'm trying to be a little more cautious. I figured if anyone would know, it'd be you guys.

If you don't have any knowledge of hosting.us.com, suggestions would be more than welcomed :-] Thanks a lot.

Have a great day,

Lindsey, I checked out the site and it does look very attractive but you might want to hold out for a while and check with references as their packages seem (as you say it) "too good to be true". To offer sucha package for that price, they must be cutting corners somewhere (e.g reliabilty, speed or support quality).

What kind of site do you have? If you have a website that is crucial to be up all the time with very minimal downtime (such as a business web site), I would strongly suggest you pay a little extra to have a good uptime. Most hosting plans today are pretty cheap and you should pay the right price for what you NEED. For example, you said you only have a very small web site, so you don't really need to look at "unlimited" hosting packages as yet. its not worth the risk i nmy opinion.

The site I have is just a small fan site that doesn't get an overwhelming amount of visitors. But, I kind of wanted to post some videos and MP3s and - hopefully - the site will become more popular. In addition to that, any site that I allow to become a part of mine will probably need sufficient space. It'd be nice if I could pay for a more "real"-sounding host, but I can't. I'm on a very limited budget.

I've looked through the site and it seems like reliability and support aren't problems. They offer 99.999% up time and reply to any message within 24 hours and give a 7 day free trial. [shrug] It sounds pretty good. I guess all I need now are references and example hostees. I hope it all works out.

Thanks so much for the response. I feel better now that I've gotten your advice. :-]

Lindsey,

I took another look at the site and where it says "unlimited bandwidth" it also says "(On demand)" in brackets. I'm not sure what that means and you might have to ask them about that.

And as you can see, the plans are all 1 year contracts and it says for example "15GB transfer" but is this 15GB per MONTH or per year?? If its per year, then that explains their price!!

Thanks so much for pointing that out. I sent out an email asking about what "On Demand" means and how much transfer is included per month. I flat out asked them if there was a catch ;-]

Thanks again for your time.
