Hi guys,
I will be greatful to get some help from you here.
We have a web page - Marriage Agency, but we have bandwith just 10 GB and it's not enough right now.
So we decided to change a hosting company, but not sure which one to choose.
There are so many of them and almost all of them looks reliable.
I would be greatful to get some help and one more thing -
I saw that many offer Linux servers.
What is a difference between Linux, Unix and Windows?
Right now we have Windows, but discovered that we can't use cgi on Windows servers.

Hi,
Not sure who to refer you to here, but I do have a suggestion that will help your site run smoother.

With that type of a site, cgi based and 10+gigs of bandwidth, you should start looking for a semi dedicated server that has 25 or less sites on it.

I am sure CPU load has to be a factor with your kind of site, and with the images using ram as well as the cgi scripts driving the site, it will run much better with a lot less sites on the server.

As for CGI and widows.. you can, but you need to learn how. It is defanately different than on a linux server, but they will run.

The difference in Unix and Linux is that Linux is a free version (more less) of Unix's platform. They are mostly the same as far as a hosting customer is conserned.

Windows is best on a home PC. It is attacked often by hackers that love to kill windows servers. Like other windows products... it is a work in progress that is not as stable, costs more to maintain, and generally costs more to host web sites due to the extra tech time per server.

1st, you can use cgi on windows. It's a bit trickier than on linux but it can be done.

It may not be a good idea to switch platforms now. Depends on how complex your functionality is. I would recommend sticking with Windows.

You may need to edit many of your scripts if you switch from your current os to a new hosting platform. On the other hand it shouldnt be hard to find a host with a windows platform, though windows isn't the best platform to be hosting on, in my opinion.

Also 10GB of bandwidth isn't really that much. I can't believe your provider is too hard headed to give you a bandwidth boost, if you give them a cash boost. I know I wouldn't mind.
