I am currently looking for a new host for my site QuoteWorld.org. Right now I am hosted on CWI Hosting and am constantly getting suspended for "using excessive system resources." As I've read in past posts, this seems to be a common problem.

What I need is about 20GB transfer a month, but only need 20 MB in space. The biggest concern is with the processor power I will be allowed to consume. I run several search scripts with PHP through a hefty MySQL database. I also have a SubscribeMe Lite mailing list with about 10,000 subscribers currently.

CWI constantly complains that these things use up too much system power, and based on past host responses, there is some truth to this, but obviously not the extent that CQI has taken it.

I need a host that will work with me and provide reliable support, which CWI has not been able to do. I know a shared host can handle my needs, it's just a question of whether or not the customer service is willing to make the initial effort.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I am tired of my visitors frequently being greeted by a "FORBIDDEN: This account has been suspended" message. All I need is a reliable server with top-notch customer support.

It might be worth looking into 'virtual dedicated'. I've little experience with it myself so I couldn't give you much info on how it performs under strain, but in essense each account runs an instance of the server itself, rather than all just running collectively using the same system. A little hard to explain without seeing it yourself, but Remarkable Hosting uses this method. You might want to contact them and see if they can fit your needs.

Check out the company that CWI Hosting LEASES their hardware from, that is www.RackSpace.com

I'm not recommending you go with them, but rather that you investigate them to see if they're what you're looking for.

Why buy the milk when you can get your hands on the cow?

Rachshack only do dedicated servers don't they? That might be a bit of overkill for his requirements - though a valid point. You could resell out the extra space to make some extra cash on the side I suppose (friends and family maybe)

I think there are too many hosting companies out there that "stick to their guns" when it comes to hosting packages. It's obvious not every customer is the same and more hosts should realize this.

I once knew a person who had a phrase called the (deregotory racial slander) No. This was a philosophy that a certian racial ethnicity is cheap and wouldnt spend money. If there was a really strange job they were asking for or you just didn't want to work for someone you'd give them the (racial slander) No. What did this accomplish? You'd jack your price up so high nobody in their right mind would accept, but if they accepted your price it would be well worth your while.

I hope that made sence. There is money to be made in custom hosting and I'd promote myself except I can't due to the rules.

In response to "Why buy the milk when you can get your hands on the cow?" well a cow costs more to own than just getting the milk (if the milk is all you want!)

But he's right, you want to go for dedicated not so much because of the bandwidth, but because of the server resources you are using. Once you go dedicated, you won't have to worry about such issues anymore!

Good luck with your search!
