Whats the general opinion? Is Windows the best, or does Linux leave Windows trailing behind?

I voted Linux.

From my personal experience, it's 'steadier', more 'robust'. Just a personal preference I guess.

linux is the ONE for me....not just as a hosting server, but for various other things....and its less costly too...

Linux is better and a lot cheaper to get a dynamic site developed on a linux system. A lot more open source development happening and i've never had probs. I had some customers with windows asp hosting and never figured out how to makes the things work sometimes.

I voted Linux.

We've had both and Linux Servers for us seem to be more stable and reliable. No more Windows for us.

I'm always with Linux
Good logging and troubleshooting features helps an easy administration.
Overall better stability and security.

Another vote for Linux, open source and steadier than Windows.

FreeBSD. If it's good enough for Yahoo and Sony, then it's good enough for me.

For you Linux die-hards it's well worth considering a FreeBSD box for your next project even if it's only for it's ports system.
