I'm still not too sure on the whole hosting thing. I understand that a DNS server changes the domain name into a IP address, so if i was too setup a hosting company, would i need to have a DNS server working on my network?

Will you be running your own server or will you be using a reseller account to start your new hosting company?

If you are running your own dedicated server then that particular server can be used for your DNS as well.

If you are starting your hosting company with a reseller account then you don't have to worry about this as your upstream host provider has that already setup for you to use.

To be able to edit DNS, then all you would need is WHM for instance and just change the DNS zone for the name servers you want to setup.

All control panels come with dns server. You can manage it anyway.
