Hi,
I've recently invested time into my hosting site to try and get more online signups thorugh the site (above).

I'd really appreciate any criticism on the site, first impressions, design, layout, packages etc.

Also any advice on obtaining new customers, I've started using adwords, but with such a flooded market for hosting not sure if its worth it.....

Hey varihost, I like your site, looks pretty good!
We never got into adwords, we considered it but after talking with plenty of others we decided it wasn't worth it. You really need to concentrate on a niche of a few keywords, things like general hosting is like you said very flooded.
We've found being active in several forums with a sig on each post, PR, articles, news submissions, directory submissions, stuff like that has worked pretty well. Banner ads can get expensive, but that's another are you could consider.

Really appreciate the feedback. I know this business can take time. I've looked at magazine advertising, but I feel compared to the 'qualified' lead exposure you get via adwords it doesn't compare, pound for pound.

I wondered if you or anyone can answer the following:

1- how many new custoemrs do you get a month ?
2- what do you spend on advertising ? (including time spent doing forum pr etc)
3- whats your opinion on buying customers (bbuying hosting businesses via these and other forums etc. I've read some hosters regard it as the cheapest way of getting new business ?

As you can tell I'm lost as to how best spend my (small) marketing budget.

I'm persuing hosting as I've done alot of web design and built a nice hosting business alongside, but now want to go a step further and get alot more clients for hosting.

All advice and opinions welcome.

It's a pretty nice site but I see one problem. I am using Firefox and the hosting plans section seems to over lap the text above it. You might want to download firefox and figure that out (if you don't use it already).

I thought I'd resolved the ff problem ? do you still get it now ? I'm using xp and ff 2.0 and don't get this overlap...I've also tesetd on safari.

Site looks pretty good. And congrats for actually putting a phone number on your contact us page, not many hosts do. You're off to a good start!
