SingleFeed Stresses Data Feed Optimization for Google Base Just in Time for the Holiday Shopping Season
To kick off the online holiday shopping season, SingleFeed allows new merchants to try its Google Base data feed management, submission, and optimization service for just $0.99 for the first month. Regular pricing for the service is $9.99/month.
While there are many free or automated services which assist with Google Base Submission, including Google’s own Store Connector, these service do not stress data feed optimization and therefore merchants lose out on valuable traffic from Google. SingleFeed has much more stringent data feed requirements as data feed optimization is the foundation of the SingleFeed data feed. Clients who use SingleFeed have new found success on Google Base because of the company’s optimization tactics.
“Most legitimate ecommerce providers offer free automated feeds to shopping search engines like Google Base, Shopzilla, and NexTag, but the automated feeds often include only the bare minimum submission requirements,” said Brian Smith, an independent ecommerce analyst and founder of SingleFeed. “Disengaging the automated feed and spending a couple hours developing the more complete and optimized SingleFeed is an important step to achieving success on any shopping engine. The instructions on Google Base even say: keep in mind that including as many attributes as possible will increase your items' exposure in search results.”
SingleFeed also submits important custom attributes (
base.google.com/base/custom-attributes.html) to Google Base on the merchants’ behalf and will add additional Google Base custom attributes upon request. This is an opportunity for merchants to drive additional sales by including unique properties for their products.
To help merchants get up and running as quickly as possible with the best feed, SingleFeed has also introduced an HTML parsing solution which will delete all the HTML in merchants’ product titles and descriptions before submitting the feed. This is important as Google Base and the other shopping engines don’t accept feeds which contain HTML in certain fields.
Forrester expects online holiday shopping to increase 23% this year. Merchants need to have their products listed in the shopping comparison engines to take advantage of this growth.
