Okay, I'm planning on getting a new domain name, changing my current one and redoing the website it's under. While I'm at it, I was thinking about making a forum to attatch to the website as I've seen done before. My question is how do I set up the forum under the domain name along with the website?

Hi Mideve,

First of all, you will need a web hosting account. After your domain name had resolve to your hosting account, you may start setting up your forum.

You may choose to setup your forum manually or install it via "web scripts installer" (we called it fantastico located in cpanel)

Through fantastico, you can setup the forum within a few clicks. That is the easiest way i can suggest to you.

The last option is upload all the files & setup mysql databases manually.

I will suggest you to create a sub-domain - forum.yourdomainname.com
You can use SNITZ or vBulletin or phpBB (free version) to setup the forum. Almost all these programmes have setup wizards. You have to go for 50Mb or 100Mb minimum web space if you want to setup a forum alongwith your domain. Rather I will advice you to setup forum saparatelly so your domain web space is not messed up. Select a web host who can uipgrade your web space for forum, as this will be required in future.

wish you all the best.

just install your forum in home/user/public_html (example)

I dont reccomend it tho, have a website or use a CMS like E107
