thanks.. but that would give me ip for the website, not the host, no?

Yes, you'll be getting the Ip and DataCenter ID, but that's all

so, that means there's no way of knowing the host name ?

ajaxdns.com Allows you to do various searches of a domain name. It will let you see the contact information for a site, IP WHOIS contact information for that and so on.

Hi,

Did you managed to find the hostname from the domain name?

if he edited the domain name property, then there is no way to locate the host.
because DNS is propagation, u need to access to this domain name control panel, and look at the NS of the hosting company.

another way mayb you can try is to use nettrace. and trace the ip rounting step by step. good luck

You could also do a reverse DNS lookup once you know the IP, to possibly find the host/domain name of the server itself (if its set up that way).

Sometimes also searching google for the DNS name servers used by a site will bring up a forum post or thread of other discussion of the hosting service in question... which, as I understand it, is what you are trying to find out.

I think whois.domaintools.com can help you much.

Depending if he placed a PTR record for the hostname you can do a reverse dns of the IP via dnsstuff.com
