Internet Telethon Glitch With Old Provider Sent Them Scrambling - Go Daddy To The Rescue!

The Arizona Humane Society is proud to claim the nation’s highest grossing pet telethon and is known for rescuing animals in need. Now, GoDaddy.com® is rescuing the nonprofit from its Internet woes. The society announced today it switched hosting providers, moving to GoDaddy.com for a more stable and reliable Web site. The switch comes after an outage during their annual telethon threatened to prevent online donations.

GoDaddy.com Founder and CEO Bob Parsons, along with his dog Max, were at the Arizona Humane Society’s telethon to match online donations when a troubling glitch occurred. The society’s Web site, which was hosted by an unnamed firm, crashed—unable to keep up with the spike in traffic spurred by Parsons’ offer, even though the staff had prepared for the surge.

During the telethon, Parsons and GoDaddy.com moved quickly and created an alternative Web site address for telethon donations. The move was televised to viewers and the telethon’s Internet aspect ran smoothly for the rest of the fundraising drive. With help from GoDaddy.com, members of the community donated more than $117,000 in online donations, almost seven times the amount pledged last year. Parsons, on behalf of his company, donated $50,000 to the respected animal-welfare organization.

“We agreed on the spot that we would transfer our Web hosting over to GoDaddy.com,” said Cheryl Naumann, Arizona Humane Society president and CEO. “Go Daddy’s quick response at the telethon saved our behinds. We’re the highest grossing pet telethon in the United States. Our Web site simply has to work. By switching to GoDaddy.com, we have the peace of mind that such an incident won’t happen again.”

Parsons said, “Go Daddy’s Web sites are up and running on big days and everyday, 24/7/365.

The Arizona Humane Society will benefit from making the switch.”
