Hi!

I've tried a few web host directories but many sites you find there are just lame. Only had bad experiences so far.
So I'd really appreciate it if some webmasters like me could tell me how their hosts are, how the price, speed and features are.

I've also read a few posts on the forum here, and checked out some sites I found in the signatures of users.. akashik for example looks not bad, but I don't want to sign up anywhere until I've heard opinions of you.

I've removed a self promo ad posted on this thread and also edited my own post as, reading it back, might cross the line into self promotion.

Regarding the ASP error, the billing provider we're about to stop using have been doing that a little too much lately. I swear I wouldn't want them to walk my dog for fear of them screwing it up and bringing home the wrong one...

I clicked on "Order" to check the payment options, but I keep getting an ASP error.
I don't understand why most international web hosts don't support payment by bank transfer. Because sending checks is more work and more expensive.. (not everyone has got a credit card)


I'm still waiting for users who could tell me which hosts they prefer, etc. - Please reply.

I suggest you narrow it down to a handful by browseing hosting companies sites and then find a few of their clients sites and do a few trace routes etc, even email them and ask them how they are finding the hosting service.

Thanks, I've visited a few host sites, but all require credit card payment - I'd really love to buy webspace in the USA,GB, etc. but without a credit card it looks like I'll have to find one in my own country again.. and the price for webspace in Austria is extremely high.
Is there a possibility at webhostdir or somewhere else to search for web hosts in specific countries?

It can be challenging finding the right host, thats for sure.
I can only speak from a personal level about akashik.
Ive known him for quite some time as we share mod duties :-))
I do know he exceeds in his duties here..and shows a great deal of concern with support issues..so I truly get the sense he would be a good choice!
My best advice would be too simply follow up with some client testimonials, by visiting the potential hosts website, or by reviews posted in the directories (as Enet21 advised)
Some hosts will not have tons of reviews in the host directories, yet , they come highly recommended in forums! Also, client privacy comes in here at some point too...some people dont want to publicize their url, their email, etc, etc. You get the idea?

Hi, I'm new to WebHostDir (some of you might know me from WHT).

I'd recommend Ventures Online for general-purpose web hosting. They're reliable, provide quick support, and have a good reputation. Another host worth checking out are Tera Byte.
