Does anyone have any personal hosting experience with Burstnet? Their premier Linux package appears that it will fill my needs but I want to make sure they are what they say they are.
How about other companies with these specs?
1) Linux servers
2) 1-2 GB storage not limited with regards to file types [I will have a lot of zip files for downloading, NO warez, MP3s, or Adult files]
3) 30 GB minimum transfer/mo, again not limited as far as zip files
4) At least 2 FTP accounts [need one anonymous]
5) CGI-Either prescripted or capable
6) Not banner or popup supported
7) And all for <$75.00
Am I asking the impossible?

i just read this post on this forum (which was posted farther down). i copy and pasted it here. someone wrote that burst wasn`t any good (they are talking about the hosting provider you were asking about, right?). Here`s what they wrote:

I am currently a reseller with the worst host known to man. Burst.net - my sites have been down 10.5% of the time since March 1st. That is DAYS!!! I can't even get them to answer the phone anymore. Anyways.

I am looking for a host and found sitegenie.com - that is also0setupfees.com and 5stephosting.com. Any reviews on them. I am looking for a host that offers...

Reseller Account
Linux or Unix
WebControl Panel
ASP and Perl - both a most
CGI-Bin - that I can control - not just preinstalled scripts
Bandwidth limit above or near 10GB for 500mb site

Any comments or reviews on sitegenie.com, 0setupfees.com, and 5stephosting are greatly appricaited

Or if you have another host suggestion please submit it.

Thanks

Burst is suffering the VDI/Level 3 blues right now. They are moving to their own NOC soon I hear (though soon is apparently a moving target that changes quite a bit). Things may clear up for them regarding the downtime after that. Of course all the VDI hosts should be getting better uptime themselves as well *soon*

I've never been overly impressed with Burst - they do generate a lot of hate-mail. How much is genuine is hard to say as some of the people at Burst themselves do tend to fan the flames a little. They are quite large of course which always increases the target on their backs.

They are one of the few hosts to offer large plans so if this is a requirement (as I see it is), and you're not up to getting a dedicated server they're worth a shot. I'd lean towards Tera-byte myself, but it's a fairly even call between them...
