I am new to webhostdirectory but by no means am i new to the industry. I just wanted to offer my view on the hosting industry in general and give people starting up a view on advertising and making profit.

First of all, the web hosting indsutry is a huge huge market. There is a lot of money to be made from offering web hosting to all sorts of different people from small personal websites such as blogs to larger corporations that receive millions of hits per day.

The main question that i find everyone asks me when setting up a web hosting company is, how do i know that i will suceed? Well there is never any guarentee that you will ever suceed in any business, but the key to a sucessful web hosting company is to make sure you have an effective marketing campaign that makes you stand out from the rest of all the web hosting companies out there. There is a huge risk that you will just merge into the background, this is why you need to keep on your toes all the time, thinking of new offers and advertising them effectively. Of course, whilst advertising you must always make sure that your hosting service is up to standard and that you offer more resources than the competitor, but the main point a user looks for when purchasing is how much money they are going to save, this includes small companies as well.

I hope this helps some smaller hosting companies starting out get a grip on how the hosting industry works and gives them a few idea's on making sure their hosting company suceeds. Yes, I'd say a business plan would help you a lot. Once your business is established you need to identify what factor is going to take your hosting to the next level, in most cases this is marketing. While you are marketing i would make sure you are targeting the correct group of people and in the correct country, otherwise people are just gonna pass your site right by.
