Has Yahoo fixed the virus they had or still have on thier web server? Because I want to know who is going to pay for my computer that went down because they were too stupid to place the protection on the net. Now I must start from scartch to get my computer running again. I have lost more personal things and programs I was wrighting for my company. I would like some compusation for thier bundal. And thanx for trying to get the word out to let everyone know you have a virus on your system. Who thinks yahoo should repay the debts they made people have because of thier bundle?

I visit Yahoo regularly and I haven't had a problem with the virus, nor has anyone I know received it from them....

Although, It is possible to get it through Yahoo Mail if someone emailed it too you...

Maybe they were refering to the same thing I was on this thread:

with an .eml file being placed into the webpage. I still voted that they shouldn't be responsible though - I've had my computer here hit with it, but as I always keep those virus definitions up to date I was fine.

I seriously doubt Yahoo was affected by this; the problem we discussed in the other thread was something that would only affect Windows machines; it is scary that the same virus/worm is able to spread via either Outlook, MSIE or IIS; it's like Sircam and Code Red had an evil child

But Yahoo runs FreeBSD (last I heard), and I very seriously doubt any Yahoo server runs Windows.

I am sure that either the original post is mistaken, or it was via Yahoo Mail (most likely the case). I'm sure if you looked at the disclaimer you agreed to when signing up for a Yahoo mail account, you'll notice that they take no responsibility for what may be sent to you.

If you were going to go after someone, it should be the vendor of the offending web server (IIS), web browser (IE) or mail client (Outlook). But of course these are all Microsoft, and of course their EULA has a similar disclaimer. They do not guarantee anything, even that it will function, much less protect you from any virus/worm...
