Hope this does not make my previous question redundant...
I was asked to try to obtain a block of IP addresses so we can have multiply ISP's and for our DNS server. How do you get a block of addresses, what is the cost and process of doing it?
This board is a life saver!

Deaner,
I work for a multi-homed web host, and I replied to the rest of your question on your other post.
To get the kind of IP's you are going to need to be multi-homed, you'll need to contact ARIN (American Registry of Internet Numbers or something like that), and go through considerable red tape (HINT: keep calling them, every day, they will give you your numbers to make you go away).
For them to work, you'll need nothing smaller than a /20, and try to get a /19 if you can.
Yes, you can get your IPs from one of your transit providers, but if they give you the shaft like one of ours did, then you'll end up going through ARIN anyways. Avoid the hassle and go right to the source.

Or, talk to a friend at an ISP... I was offered a Class B (yep, that a netmask of 255.255.0.0) once for a 2MB leased line with BGP pearing... Luurrrrvvvveeeely...
A lot of BIG ISPs have huge amounts of spare blocks just kicking around, so make friends in high places. Usually works
