Hi Everyone,

I was watching the news this morning, trying to keep up on the developments, and it dawned on me that maybe I'd be much more productive if I just tuned out! The discussion I was listening to was about cyberspace terrorism. What's this going to mean to the rest of us anyway? They are already warning about countless emails and stuff that are circulating, and now they are saying that these people are so advanced when it comes to cyberspace that they can actually take out whole systems, like air traffic control! I'm only repeating what the experts are saying on national news, but I still find it hard to comprehend. Get this, they are also saying that where cyberspace terrorism is concerned, we are playing catchup to Bin Laden and the Taliban!! How did we get so far behind anyway? They literally sneaked up on us!

I find this stuff very depressing - what's next?

While this latest worm is fairly nasty, I have a feeling the news reporters are trying to make it into a much bigger story than it really is, in order to keep "interest" in recent terrorist events - more specifically, to keep "interest" in news reports about recent terrorist events. It's a ratings thing.

I tuned out last week and only catch the odd bulletin here and there. Over exposure to media reports was driving me crazy last week plus I'm fed up with the media scare mongering and hype. Like the Rev says, they are trying to keep interest.

With so many people tuning into the news a ratings war was inevitable. Each station / web site is trying to out do the next with the newest developments.

Its a real shame that at the end of the day it all goes back to making a few bucks on the back of reporting a disaster.

And I think I'll tune out for a while!

I'm sure I'll get more done!

I keep trying to, but the continual impulse to see whats happened this hour is sometimes too much to handle.
