This is my first attempt to publish a website, and I'm used dreamweaver to build the site. I can connect to my host (ANRhost), and save the files and then transfer all of my files using "putfile,"; when I 'put' the files to the site it's as if nothing happens because the page itself doesn't change. The specific page is www.stanwilczekjr.com, which still has the ad stuff from godaddy on it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Help? thanks.

Make sure you are uploading your files to the correct directory. Ask your host which directory is your web directory. If you are using cpanel, you should upload to your public_html directory.

You should aware of this:
- Delete index.htm or index.html (the one that not belong to you) which might provided as default by your web hosting provider.
- If you using dreamweaver under windows and your hosting is on *nix, keep an eye on letters case. *nix hosting is case sensitive which mean Index.html is different than index.html.

God luck.

I see that this is fixed now - however - it is a VERY common problem:

This is an issue of what is called - DNS Propogation.

You can tell because you switched hosts and had to change your DNS from Go Daddy to Anhosts. This change usually takes several days to filter down to all the various nodes of the Internet.

Therefore, until the DNS change propogated - you were seeing the 'old' Go Daddy parked page.

Good luck with your novel!

LOL... fool me.
I did not read the questions carefully.

Highpr is right, it's all about DNS propagation. Just wait, usually it takes about 24-72 hours.
so that you know for next time, you can usually access your page before DNS propagation by a similar URL to http:// [your shared IP] /~ [your username]

If you have a dedicated IP, just type it in....
