Experts are anticipating a big jump in online sales, and AIT (ait.com/promotions.php) is making it easier for businesses to take part by including a free secure certificate and domain registration with the purchase of select dedicated hosting accounts.
A secure certificate instills consumer confidence which is critical as shoppers increasingly turn to the Internet for purchasing decisions. “The peak e-commerce season only lasts so long, so we want to help people put their businesses online and be ready to facilitate transactions as quickly as possible,” said Clarence Briggs, AIT’s Chief Executive Officer. “Saving folks a couple of hundred bucks coming out of the gate helps with that.”
The secure cert and domain registration offers are tied to a trio of Xeon-powered dedicated servers – two are self-managed machines and the third is a fully-managed solution. The servers come with a minimum of 80GB of disk space and 2,000GB of monthly data transfer. Though the holiday season is already underway, online merchants still have time to get in on the anticipated $20-billion that will be spent on Internet sites, a 24% spending increase from last year:
- Free shipping, gift-wrapping, or other free value-added services
- Easy to understand forms and clear website navigation
- Buttons for “click now” functions that look like buttons (don’t confuse customers with artistic flourishes)
- Avoid Flash tours and demos as a lot of website visitors won’t be on broadband connections
- Make it very easy to find the checkout
Regardless of what a merchant earns during this part of the year, online spending will continue during the other 11 months of the year, too. Even so, security remains a nagging concern, and that’s where the secure certificate comes into play. “An online transaction involves very sensitive information, and it’s natural that a consumer would want to guard that,” said Briggs. “A secure certificate makes the process more comfortable for both sides.”
