NAP of the Americas Remains Operational and Servicing Customers
Terremark Worldwide, Inc. a leading operator of integrated Tier-1 Internet exchanges and a global provider of managed IT infrastructure solutions for government and private sectors, announced today that its NAP of the Americas in Miami, Florida continued to operate throughout Hurricane Wilma without any interruptions to its customers or critical infrastructure.
While historically massive power outages continue to affect the entire region, the critical infrastructure located at the NAP of the Americas remains powered and accessible via the multitude of communications carriers available at Terremark's flagship facility.
Terremark followed its carefully planned procedures and relied on its robust electrical and mechanical infrastructure, as well as its expert staff to ensure continued operations during and post-hurricane.
In addition to being an extremely secure facility with redundant capabilities to ensure ongoing operations, the NAP is located on one of the highest points in Miami and presently facilitates telecommunications and data traffic for all customers at the Miami facility.
"We designed our infrastructure to withstand a Category 5 force hurricane," said Manuel D. Medina, Chairman and CEO of Terremark Worldwide Inc. "As expected, our infrastructure remains fully operational. Companies that continue to select Terremark as their service provider of choice have the peace of mind that they need during these trying times."
