To start with I want to setup 2 websites.
But as business grows, I may have to setup new websites.

So my question is: should I buy a seperate hosting plans for every individual webiste ( I would need to buy domain name and hosting space)

OR
should I buy a reseller plan...

any ideas??

It really depends on personal preference, if you get a reseller account, each domain will have its own control panel etc, however if you get a shared plan you will have to use 1 control panel for all the domains (if you get multi domain hosting).

My best sugestion would be go with a company that does shared and reseller plans, hostgator is fairly good, and start with a shared plan and later upgrade to a reseller plan. Im sure if you talk to hosting companies, they will be able to help you move an account from a shared enviroment to a reseller enviroment.

The real question overall is, do you want 1 control panel for all your domains (mail, filemanager, mysql etc) of would you prefer a control panel for each domain?

One other point is how many domains are you going to have?

Just as a rough guess, if our going to have 10 or more domains, reseller will probably be cheaper, less that that then it depends on which host you go with as to which is cheaper.

Also another point, if you are going to have 2 busy sites, and some that are not very busy, with a reseller account you would be able to balance your bandwidth around a little so that your small sites had low bandwidth, and your big sites had plenty, if that makes sense?

It is definetely better to get 2 separate hosting plans. But it depemds of your business plan. I suggest you to get 2 different hosting accounts instead of one. Hope you will be able to find them at nice price.

I would go with 2 separate plans. My experience of Reseller hosting is that large hosts tend to cram about as many reseller plans onto a single server as they do regular plans onto other servers. Reseller Plans naturally contain multiple domains, so Servers hosting reseller accounts tend to have more contention.

Sites hosted on reseller plans are also often designed by people with intermediate to high technical skills. This means they tend to use more server resources than the average static site designed by a novice. Again, more contention. Furthermore, most "bad" web developers are also resellers, (though not all resellers are bad developers.) This means there are often many inefficient applications running on Reseller Hosting Plans. Again, adding to the contention on the server and the performance of your sites.

This is the downside of Reseller Plans.

I would sugest you buy only one hosting plan that lets you have unlimited domains... that way you wont have to pay alot.

Along the lines of what everyone else has said...

I would go for a reseller account, from a quality host that does not overload their servers. You'll be able to have a separate control panel for each of your subaccounts just as if you had bougth them separately, plus you would usually get additional features that only a reseller would have. Many hosts nowadays offer unlimited domains with their reseller accounts so I think overall you will be better off with a reseller hosting account.

If you have a greater need for more CPU/RAM resources for your sites you may even think about a VPS/VDS solution.
