Some of us desire to have our very own, top-level domains, but don't want to pay for hosting. Some of us may not even have the means to pay for hosting (like me), but can afford a flat-fee rate of $9.50 to purchase a domain for 12 months.

I've been through several free hosting providers while I've owned my domain (emeraldtorch.com), and so far, Internet Army is truly the best one that I've found.

"Aww, they're probably just like everyone else and give you just some basic stuff to host with until you upgrade to premium." (I know you're probably thinking that, because that's what I thought when I originally found them, too.) But Internet Army gives you quite a bit of features for you giving them no money in return. Here's only a sample of what they give you:
  • Unlimited subdomains
  • 1000 MB of bandwidth to start out with
  • 100 MB of disk space
  • Email server (you@yourdomain.com)
  • FTP
  • NO ADS, either banner OR pop-up!
  • Custom error pages
  • PHP, CGI, Perl ...
  • Password-protection
  • Ability to add more users to your top-level domain
  • Efficient, extremely prompt Tech Support

And that's just the beginning! I highly recommend them as a host for someone who owns a domain but can't afford to pay for monthly or annual hosting with another company. The service is excellent, and the price really can't be beaten.

If they are working for you that is great. I once tried the free hosting route and they went belly up, but my thought is good luck and I hope it works for you.
