I have discovered that cow's milk contains a substance know as IGF-1 which greatly increases the risk of various cancers, including prostate and breast cancer. The evidence on the internet supporting this is overwhelming. Anyone interested may wish to begin with this article which refers to Lancet, a prestigious medical journal.

heh, well with the amount of cigarettes I smoke, milk is the least of my concerns Besides, milk goes so well with coffee.

Even though you don't mind adding another carcinogen in your own life, do you feel obligated to warn anyone else?

I remind you that Lancet is one of the most prestigious medical journals in the world. Here's another website that sites a study at Harvard that came to the same conclusion. This is no joke.

Interesting.....

Perhaps, I should cut down on my milk consumption....

Here's another one for you:

Quote:
The level of dioxin in a single serving of the Ben & Jerry's World's Best Vanilla Ice Cream tested was almost 200 times greater than the "virtually safe [daily] dose" determined by the EPA, said Michael Gough, lead study author. Gough is a former government scientist who chaired the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services advisory panel on the effects of dioxin-contaminated Agent Orange on U.S. Air Force personnel in Vietnam.

I'm not about to stop eating Ice Cream over it though.

Don`t ONLY worry about the milk that came from the cow`s a**........cause even the fruits and vegetables you eat everyday are full of toxic pesticides.

And don`t live next to any high voltage power lines either cause the magnetic waves will give it to you as well.......

Damn cancer every where........

Oh yeh, and don`t eat the cow either cause some farmer (probabaly JTY`s neighbor) pumped it full of toxic hormones so your steaks more tender.

And don`t eat my avatar either.

Now you tell me after I drink that 15 liters of milk.

thewitt-I read elsewhere by the way that the "Ben" of Ben had Jerry had quadrupule bypass surgery. Maybe all that ice cream took its toll.

Here's a web site which shows what extremes farmers go through to attempt to control the bacteria content in milk. I doubt if many dairy farmers do all of these things. Since milk is loaded with bacteria, unfortunately it's also loaded with pus and antibiotics.

Don't fret over it. If you stopped eating and drinking everything that could, may, possible add to increasing chances of cancer or some other condition you'd starve.

Living causes cancer.

I don't drink milk or for that matter consume dairy products anyway. To me the idea of drinking something that is the gladular secretion of a cow isn't very appetizing.

Frankly I can't think of anything people drink other than milk that has a known link to cancer except I have heard huge amounts of alcohol may contribute to breast cancer. What are these other beverages?

might help to put things into a little more perspective. Of course a quick look around the net also gave me these:

I suppose the point I'm trying to make is, everything in moderation. While one food may highten a risk of something, quite often it reduces the risk of something else.
