Has anyone had any success with targeting a local market of people with direct advertising to their homes. What i mean is sending specific people ads via mail. I have an idea to create two website templates for certain groups and i want to know if mailing directly to their addresses would be effective.

let me know
thanks

I tried a local mail out, directed at a certain group of people. However i sent only 100 just to test it out. Total replys = 0!
Not what i was hoping,..

I'm going to try a more personalised approach. To indiviadual companies with some parts of each letter directed to their company. Hopefully that will be more successful, but more than 0 shouldn't be too difficult.

Hi,

One method you could try is to send out your mail shot like you actually did and then later the next day follow it up with a telephone call. When you just send out the mail shot the company / individuals may not have read your mail in detail, but may have noticed it, so rather than just sending it via post and leaving it waiting for a response, chase it up

Chances of success are far greater this way, but it does involve a little more work

You can look for various ads in local newspaper. You can call all up companies without website.

I think placing your advertisement in yellow pages and adopting other ways of publicity like handbills, refer a friend campaign, cinema screen or direct mail, may also taken into account for targeting a local market.

Do you think its worthwhile targeting your local market first then building from that?

If it is a small town, I think the target should be local market first, targeting the same you get immediate response and recognition.
